How is it spread?

It is usually passed from one person to another through skin-to-skin contact during vaginal, anal, or oral sexual activity. It is not necessary to engage in sexual activity to get infected with HPV. Skin-to-skin contact with an infected partner is enough to get the virus. HPV can be passed on between straight and same-sex partners—even when the infected partner has no signs or symptoms.

How is the diagnosis established?

The diagnosis for genital HPV varies for men and women. Since the main sign for HPV in men is visible skin growth, the visual exam (sometimes with a magnifying glass) of the skin of the genitals and anus is necessary.Females should get yearly PAP smear by gynecologist in addition to visual examination.

We offer two types of treatment for removal of genital warts: Freezing (liquid nitrogen) and applying Trichloroacetic acid . It is either a cold air (freezing) or a chemical application (Trichloroacetic acid) that burn the warts off. Both types of treatment are very effective with minimal discomfort, that can be performed the same day. It will take 1 week for the visible lesions to disappear.

Does the person considered free of disease after the treatment?

When the warts disappear, the HPV virus is still might be there, though it may not spread as easily.
